Choosing a rug for your entryway is never an easy decision. After putting in endless work for the rest of your home, don’t let the first rug in your home look like an afterthought. There are many options to make. What shape works best, what size, and don’t forget the style and color.
First, you’ll want to make sure all the furniture is in place, then measure the foyer area to find the carpet size. Not only should the carpet fit the space (the larger the carpet, the warmer the space); it should be easy to clean because the entryway is a high-traffic area. You don’t need a plush rug. The rug should reflect your style and give visitors a sense of your home’s personality as soon as they walk through the door.
With a bold and joyful rug, fully express your personality, show your fun and fun, and make visitors feel welcome. This contrasts with the black and white floors, which become the focal point of the unfurnished entrance. No piece of furniture adds as much color and personality as this rug. Please note that this rug is as wide as the doorway. This is important because there is a lot of traffic in the entryway, and you don’t want anyone to trip over the side of the rug as they pass.
If your entrance hall is smaller, choose a larger carpet size and pattern. Measure the width of the entrance and look for a carpet that will take up most of the space. You’ll find more options for larger rugs. Look for something with a large geometric shape, which will give the impression that there is more space.
This is a good example of placing the furniture first, then measuring the carpet. You don’t want the rug to hit the furniture or touch another rug in the same area, but you also don’t want the rug to be too small.
If you find a nice large rug at the entrance, but you don’t want to leave dirty shoe prints on it, pull it away from the front and use a neutral and/or naturally woven mat directly in front of the door. Visitors can walk on the mats, take off their shoes, and enjoy the chic carpet. And because the smaller rug is neutral, it won’t affect the larger rug.
If you have a wide and shallow entryway, use a rectangular rug that is wider than the doorway to define the space and place it in the center of the doorway. Patterns and/or colors that don’t get lost when trying to place on the floor.
If your entrance is long and narrow, use a chute as wide as the door. Wider, larger rugs feel warmer and more welcoming. If you can’t find it, look for leftover material that can be cut and bound to the size you need.
When the round carpet is located in the center of the entryway, it adds a touch of elegance. I like to use a round rug with an arched front door. Use the large round chandelier above to add to the ambiance.
The round carpet is also perfect for the grand double staircase entrance. The pastel corners mimic a curved stairwell. Make sure it’s big and try to associate colors and patterns with the stair slide.
A large rug is laid over the tiled floor to warm up the entrance.
If you have double front doors, spread a rug in front of both doors. Larger carpets create a more powerful front entrance look.
Rugs can add another layer of charm to a home full of eclectic beauty. Oriental pieces with tassels work well. Make sure to use a rubber pad underneath to prevent it from slipping.
Remember, once someone walks into your home, you can grab their attention with a fun big rug. Just remember to buy something that catches your eye and don’t skimp on size.
